Stefan Neubert is the First Kapellmeister at the Saarländisches Staatstheater in Saarbrücken.

His conducting career began in 2006 at the Anhaltisches Theater in Dessau. In 2012, he moved to the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe before joining the Saarländisches Staatstheater in 2015.

There, he conducts an extensive opera repertoire, including Tristan und Isolde, Das Rheingold, Die Walküre, Der Rosenkavalier, Aida, Turandot, and The Maid of Orleans.

In 2023 and 2024, he conducted the world premieres of Ophelia (Sarah Nemstov) and Sita (Gustav Holst). Both productions, highly praised by audiences and critics, were recorded by Saarländischer Rundfunk.

In the 2019/20 season, he conducted the German premieres of Marguerite (Michel Legrand) and Marilyn Forever (Gavin Bryars). To mark Beethoven’s 250th anniversary (2020), he conducted a production of The Creatures of Prometheus, broadcast by Arte TV.

As a concert conductor, Stefan Neubert has worked with renowned orchestras such as the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken, Staatskapelle Halle, Anhaltische Philharmonie Dessau, Württembergisches Kammerorchester Heilbronn, Stuttgarter Philharmoniker, and Philharmonie Baden-Baden. Internationally, he has appeared with the MAV Orchestra Budapest, the Kärntner Symphony Orchestra, and the Luxembourg Philharmonic.

In 2023, he made his South Korea debut, conducting the Seongnam Philharmonic Orchestra and the Gyeongbuk Philharmonic Orchestra. For the 2023/24 season, he was invited to the Stadttheater Klagenfurt, where he conducted Puccini’s Manon Lescaut.

Stefan Neubert's musical journey began at the Georg-Friedrich-Händel Conservatory and as a member of the Stadtsingechor zu Halle. He later pursued studies in conducting, piano, and improvisation at the music universities of Dresden and Karlsruhe. His training was further enriched through masterclasses with esteemed conductors Jorma Panula, Paavo Järvi, and Neeme Järvi.

In 2002, he was awarded scholarship to the Bayreuth Festival.

Since 2016, Stefan Neubert has been a lecturer at the Hochschule für Musik Saar.
